Fashion trends come and go with the time, but trends from the 90's seem to live on and reinvent themselves for millennials to enjoy today.
1. The "Dad" shoe
According to google trends and Pinterest in the summer of 2018 searches for dad shoe and dad sneakers spiked, but what is a dad shoe ? Think of the 90's plain/simple designs, thick soles and an overall clunky look. According to Jane Buckingham, founder and CEO of the trend forecasting and consulting company Trendera, says brands like Nike and Adidas started going "chunkier" about a year ago. Adidas notably releasing the Yeezy Wave Runner 700 designed by Kanye West. Fila also caused a big splash with the re-release of their "Disruptor" sneakers too.

Celebrities and fashion influencers helped to push the dad trend forward, supporting brands like Gucci, Balenciaga, and Louis Vuitton who also decided to go with more bulky shoe options. Jaden smith is shown in Louis Vuitton's Archlight sneaker, and Bella Hadid is shown wearing Balenciaga triple S's

2. Fanny Packs/ Belt Bags
Over the years “fanny packs” would make a tease of coming back for example in Moschinos 2012 fashion show, but spring 2018 is when they truly came back full force with new styles, some refinements and a fresh new name belt bags that have entered new markets for men and women. The popularity of streetwear and athleisure have influenced belt bags.

According to Marshal Cohen, an analyst with market research firm NPD Group "Fanny packs, or ‘waist bags’ as we now call them, are the fastest-growing segment in the men’s accessories market." Every designer from Fendi, Balenciaga, Gucci, Alexander Wang and many more have shown waist bags as apart of their collections for the new seasons.

Above are some of hollywoods biggest fashion icons Kendall Jenner, Beyonce, Kourtney Kardashian, Rihanna, and Sara Jessica Parker all sporting fanny packs from red carpet events to everyday street style.
3. Chokers
Chokers first gained popularity around 1900 due to Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom wearing one to hide a small scar, fast forward to the ’90s, chokers were THE fashion accesory. These collar-like necklaces sat tightly around the neck and added an edgy element to any outfit. The most recent resurgence of the choker began on the runways of 2016 (Dior & Alexander Wang).

Its no surprise that Hollywood it girl and Instagram queen Kim Kardashian has helped to influence the chocker trend by showcasing new and edgy designs from various brands. Emma Grady an award winning fashion writer accounts "I started noticing chokers earlier this year on Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner," she says, "and, soon after, on people in the streets of New York City.
