Trend Scouting

As a group the five stores my team and I focused on were Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Uniqlo, Zara, and Pacsun. As well known fast fashion company their forecasts and predictions for the future seemed to be spot on.

We decided to focus on coming trends for bottoms - jeans, pants, joggers etc.

I myself focused on Zara's trends for mens pants. As an avid shopper at Zara I felt I knew the layout of the store and could identify which items they were choosing to highlight in the store. I found that the store displayed skinny biker jeans, tapered cropped pants, and pants with side bands heavily. as well as featuring them on their bestsellers list. Although tripes down the side of a pant leg isn't the newest innovation (i.e Adidas) the modern twist consolidating the 3 stripes into 1 and adding them to more "professional" pants is really in, definitely feeding into the athleisure trend.

They're were many different variations of this style of pant around the store. They were showcased on the front mannequins, as well as folded on the front tables. Zara also merchandises by what seems to be mini collections usually feating a model outfit using some pieces from said collection and these pants were used in the model outfits
